Fees & billing

Dr Megan Byrnes and her team are committed to providing open and transparent information about fees and billing. It is our mission to seek informed financial consent from patients before providing healthcare services. That means no surprises upon payment.

We are a non-bulk billing practice and payment is expected and appreciated at the time of consultation. Patients are billed directly and the rooms can process Medicare claims on the patient’s behalf at the time of payment.

Patients will be informed of the estimated service fee for consultations at the time of booking. Occasionally, there may be other expenses associated with your visit, depending on what medical services are recommended. The cost for these services will be explained to you and your financial consent will be sought before the service is provided.

Surgical procedures

Dr Megan’s practice uses the standard Australian Medical Association List of Services and Fees for surgical procedures. Prior to any surgical procedure, an “Estimate of Costs” or quote will be generated. This estimate is for the surgical fee only. Other costs that are likely to apply include anaesthetics, surgical assistance and hospital fees. Medicare and Private Health Funds will cover part of these costs, however, in most instances, there will also be an out of pocket cost. Prepayment is required prior to the procedure.

COVID information

As always, the health and safety of our patients, their families and our staff members is our top priority. To this end, and to comply with Western Australian Department of Health Directive, procedures are in place to minimise the potential exposures of our clinic community to COVID-19. Joondalup Private Hospital also has some restrictions in place to help keep us safe, which can be viewed at www.joondalupprivate.com.au.

Information for patients attending appointments:

Appointments in our rooms are continuing for all patients (vaccinated and unvaccinated) with telehealth available if preferred and possible.

If you are unwell, or have been deemed a close contact, please advise the rooms and your appointment can be rescheduled or changed to a telehealth appointment.

Please attend the rooms alone.

Dr Megan Byrnes and her team are committed to protecting the privacy, confidentiality and security of any information that you provide to us. We are governed by the Australian legal system and abide strictly by the Privacy Act.
